622-8859?James got up (awakened) at six in the morning when his alarm went off (sounded). He got out (left) of bed immediately, but wasn't completely awake, so he light up (started) a cigarette and waited until his coffee was ready. After he finished his coffee, he put out(extinguish) his cigarette, put on (dressed in) his coat, and walked out of the door. He went to the bus stop and waited until the bus got there (arrive). A half hour later he was at work and sat down (arrived at a sitting position), preparing his work day in front of the computer. Almost immediately he remembered the problem he was trying to figure out (solve). Then it occured to him that maybe his computer would function better if he turned off (close) his computer and turned (open) it on again; so he did that and it worked. He was excited about that so he excitedly went up (climbed) to the top floor of the building to tell his boss. But his boss was in a meeting so he decided to go down (descend) again to the first floor. He didn't want to walk down (descend) the stairs, so he got in (entered) the elevator. But halfway down, the elevator broke down (malfuncioned), and he was trapped inside for the rest of the day. As he was waiting in the elevator he was thinking about his relationship with his workmates and how well they got along (had a good relationship); and when they find out (discover) he was stuck in the elevator they would find a way to rescue him. It was so hot in the elevator, that after a half hour he passed out (fell asleep) from the extreme heat. When he woke up (gained conciousness) he was in the hallway surrounded by his workmates. His boss was there and said, "It was a scare to have you stuck in the elevator, but it's time to get you back (return) to work," and started to walk away. But three steps later he turned around (turned 180 degrees) and said, "You know, you had quiet a scare, and you look like (have the appearance of) a ghost, so why don't you take the day off (not work today)". James was very excited to not have to work. He felt like he lucked out (was lucky) by being stuck in the elevator. He decided to treat himself and eat out (at a restaurant) for lunch instead of having his regular bagged lunch. As he was eating his meal, he was looking forward (excited about) to the rest of the day off, and decided to go up to the the lookout on the top of the hill and look over (view) the city. While he was looking at (watching) the city he started thinking about his life up to that point, and looking back on (thinking about) his childhood and all the good times he had. He became very proud of himself and his job because he knew his work mates could always count on (trust) him. He saw the building he worked at and decided he didn't want anybody to fill in (do his work) for him, and that it was time to go back (return) and catch up on (recover) the work he lost with his day off.
