You, They and It

You and they are pronouns thast express who is does the action. They can be used to denote who specifically does the action, but they are also used to denote that people in general do the action. They are translated as the sufix -se in Spanish.

Context

We use you and they to make the sentence active, so it is used in the conversational context. In writting we are more likely to use the passive context.

You

You is used when you are saying that someone in general is doing something. It doesn't have to mean that you specifically is doing the action.

Example:

Specific- You are talking to me.

General- You open the door by turning the knob.

They

They is used when you are saying that a group of people do an action.

Example: They are building a new highway.

It

It is used to express the actions or conditions of an inanimate object such as the weather.

Example: It is raining. It is cold.
